Recommendations

Recommendations before any surgery:
1.Tell your doctor what you intend to expect from the surgery, as well as the fears that the surgery may provoke.
2. Do not omit any previous diseases or surgeries, as well as any medication that you take or have taken, and if you have allergy antecedents.
3. Remember not to consume aspirin, Ginko Biloba, Alka Seltzer, garlic extract, and vitamin E, two weeks before surgery and two weeks after, because of their modifying effect to the coagulation process.
4. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT to stop smoking three weeks previous to the procedure.
5. Do not forget that surgery without scars does not exist, although numerous deceptive promotions affirm the opposite. The surgeon will always try to make the scar the least visible possible locating it in the most suitable places. Results will be obtained by a combination of surgical skill, individual characteristics of the patient and any possible complication in the scaring process.
6. Let the doctor know all your economic concerns such as: medical costs, surgical expenses, prosthetic costs, post-operative compression garments, post-surgery treatments, etc. When you decide to go ahead and have the desired surgery there must be no more doubts on the matter.
7. Try to rest and sleep well the previous night.
8. On the day of the surgery, dress comfortable; do not wear makeup, nor metallic objects such as jewelry or piercings.
9. Have a relative or a friend accompany you on the day of the surgery but not too many people.
10. After the surgery you may not be able to drive yourself home.
